Symptoms of PKS may include pain, discomfort, swelling, and sometimes other symptoms in the pelvic area.<\/p>\n

Chronic pelvic pain: The most common symptom is persistent or recurring pain in the pelvic area. This pain may increase during the menstrual period.
\nLow back pain: Pain can often radiate to the waist area.
\nPain during sexual intercourse: Pelvic pain may increase during or after sexual intercourse.
\nDysmenorrhea (menstrual pain): Menstrual pain may be more severe for some women with pelvic congestion syndrome.
\nVaricose-like veins: Similar varicose veins that occur as a result of the expansion of the veins in the pelvic area.<\/p>\n

Diagnosis of pelvic congestion syndrome is made by a doctor and is usually made using imaging tests such as pelvic ultrasonography or computed tomography. Treatment options may include pain management with medications, closing the affected veins with a process called sclerotherapy, or blocking the veins with a process called embolization.
